Description: A fatter style viognier from our Memsie vineyard. Historically we blended the viognier in with our pick of the best shiraz from the same vineyard. In the last few years however we have released a small batch viognier all on its own due the exceptional quality of the fruit. The viognier fruit is pressed on arrival to the winery in an anaerobic environment to preserve its precious floral aromas. The juice goes straight to a 3 year old oak puncheon (500L). In 2019 we let the Viognier go wild and the barrel also started spontaneous malo-lactic fermentation. We arrested secondary ferment when the wine had just the right amount of creaminess. Battonage/lees stirred once per fortnight. Ages on full ferment lees for 12 months. A wine best consumed with Thai/Vietnamese/Indian food, butter and mushroom based dishes and/or a fat roast chook. White blossom, pears and toffee on the nose. This wine has a beautiful viscosity on the palate; fresh yet biscuity.
